India Visa for Singaporean Citizens: e-Visa Fees and How to Apply

Singapore citizens need a visa for India, and Singapore is not on India's visa-on-arrival list. Apply online for an e-Visa at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least four days before you arrive. For a Singapore passport the 30-day e-Tourist Visa costs US$25 (US$10 in April to June), the 1-year e-Tourist Visa also US$25 and the 5-year US$200, plus a 3% bank charge.

Singaporeans need a visa before they fly

India's visa on arrival is limited to nationals of Japan, South Korea and, on conditions, the UAE, so a Singapore passport needs its visa in hand before boarding. Singapore is on the e-Visa list, which makes the online e-Visa the usual route: no visit to the High Commission, and a decision by email.

What you will do in India decides which e-Visa you need:

  • e-Tourist Visa: holidays and sightseeing, visiting friends or relatives, a short yoga programme, a short unstructured course of up to six months with no certificate, or up to a month of unpaid voluntary work.
  • e-Business Visa: business purposes, valid for a year from grant with multiple entries and stays of up to 180 days per visit.
  • e-Medical Visa: treatment in India.
  • A regular visa from the High Commission of India in Singapore: anything the e-Visa does not cover. Employment, NGO work and journalism fall outside what the e-Visa allows, the portal says.

If you hold an Overseas Citizen of India card, you travel on that instead: see OCI cards and entry rules.

e-Visa fees for a Singapore passport

The e-Tourist fee table on the official portal, dated 8 September 2026, lists Singapore as follows, in US dollars. A 3% bank charge is added to every payment, and the fee is not refunded if the visa is refused.

CriteriaSingaporeValid forEntries and stay
30 daysUS$10 (April to June) or US$25 (July to March)30 days from first arrivalMultiple entries within the 30 days
1 yearUS$25365 days from grantMultiple; up to 180 days in India in a calendar year
5 yearsUS$2005 years from grantMultiple; up to 180 days in India in a calendar year

The 1-year rate is where a Singapore passport differs from most: the same table charges most nationalities US$40. Outside April to June, a 1-year e-Tourist Visa therefore costs a Singaporean no more than a 30-day one. For other e-Visas, the portal's second table lists US$120 for the e-Business Visa and US$80 for the e-Medical Visa. None of these visas can be extended in India or converted into another kind. Japanese passports pay even less, as India visa for Japanese citizens shows.

Applying online from Singapore

  1. Go only to indianvisaonline.gov.in. The Government of India authorises no agent to charge fees for e-Visas, express visas or the e-Arrival Card.
  2. Apply at least four days before your arrival date; the portal accepts applications up to 120 days before travel.
  3. Check your passport: six months' validity on the day you apply, and two blank pages.
  4. Upload the passport's photo page as a PDF of 10 KB to 300 KB and a JPEG photo of 10 KB to 1 MB on a plain light or white background.
  5. Pay the fee plus 3% and wait for the email telling you the visa is granted.
  6. In the 72 hours before landing, submit the free e-Arrival Card, which every foreign national must complete.

Our India e-Visa guide explains the application in more detail, and our visa assistance page explains what we can check before you submit.

Arriving by air or by sea

An e-Visa is valid for entry at the airports and seaports the portal designates, not at land borders. Its entry-points list names 37 airports, from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad to Kochi, Goa, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore and Port Blair, and seaports for cruise passengers. You may leave through any immigration check post. Immigration records your biometric details on arrival.

Regular visas in Singapore

For a regular visa, fill in the form on indianvisaonline.gov.in, then submit it with your passport and documents at the Indian mission, the High Commission of India in Singapore, or at the visa application centre it uses, as the portal's regular visa route describes. The High Commission's website gives the current place and hours. Once your visa is sorted, First time in India covers what to expect when you land.

Frequently asked questions

Why buy the 1-year e-Tourist Visa rather than the 30-day one?

Because on a Singapore passport it costs no more for most of the year. The official fee table of 8 September 2026 lists US$25 for a Singapore passport's 1-year e-Tourist Visa, where most nationalities pay US$40. That is the same as a 30-day e-Tourist Visa from July to March, so if a second trip within the year is at all possible, the 1-year visa costs nothing extra. The 5-year e-Tourist Visa is US$200, the usual rate.

Do Singapore permanent residents pay the Singapore rate?

No. The portal sets e-Visa fees country by country and decides eligibility by the passport you hold, so a permanent resident pays the rate listed for their own nationality. A Malaysian passport, for example, is listed at no fee for the 30-day e-Tourist Visa, US$40 for a year and US$200 for five. A passport that is not on the e-Visa list needs a regular visa instead.

Can I arrive in India on a cruise ship with an e-Visa?

Yes, at a designated seaport. The portal's entry-points list names 38 seaports where cruise passengers may enter on an e-Visa, among them Mumbai, Cochin, Mormugao, Chennai and New Mangalore, although an older answer in its FAQ still names only five. Check your ship's first Indian port against the portal's current list before you apply, and submit the e-Arrival Card as you would for a flight.

How late can I apply for the e-Visa before flying from Singapore?

The portal asks for applications at least four days before your arrival in India, and accepts them up to 120 days before your travel date. It charges no express or emergency fee, so there is no paid way to shorten that. Apply as soon as your dates are fixed, and only book what you can change until the email confirms the visa is granted.

Which e-Visa covers a business trip from Singapore?

The e-Business Visa, not the e-Tourist Visa. The e-Tourist Visa is for recreation, sightseeing, visiting friends and relatives, short courses and short voluntary work. Business purposes need the e-Business Visa, which the portal lists at US$120 for a Singapore passport plus the 3% bank charge; it is valid for a year from grant, with multiple entries and stays of up to 180 days per visit.

Do I need a printed copy of the e-Visa when I fly from Changi?

The portal tells applicants to carry a copy of the Electronic Travel Authorisation when they travel, so keep a printed copy with your passport for check-in and for immigration in India. Carry proof of a return or onward ticket and enough money for your stay too, as the portal requires both.
