The Deccan Odyssey is a Maharashtra Tourism initiative that fills the gap the northern trains leave: a luxury rail circuit through the Deccan plateau, the Konkan coast and Goa, taking in Maratha-era forts, coastal towns, temple heritage and, on some routes, wildlife stops.

Different route themes have run in different seasons — coastal, heritage and wildlife-oriented circuits among them — so the exact itinerary depends on which route is currently scheduled.
