Day 1–2 — In via Shimla-Kinnaur or Manali-Kunzum La
Depending on season, drive the gradual Shimla-Kinnaur route or the more direct Manali-Kunzum La road, with an overnight break rather than a single long push.
Day 3 — Kaza and Key Monastery
Base in Kaza, the valley's main town, and visit Key Monastery on its hilltop above the river.
Day 4 — Kibber and Langza
Drive out to the high villages of Kibber and Langza, and, road conditions allowing, on towards Chandratal Lake.
Day 5–6 — Out via the other route
Where the season allows, exit by the route you did not enter on, for a genuine loop rather than an out-and-back.
