Does this trip go all the way to Rohtang Pass or Spiti?

Not by default — Rohtang is an optional day trip from Manali, weather and permits allowing. A separate, longer itinerary would be needed for Spiti Valley.

What is the best time to visit Himachal's hill stations?

Broadly March to June for warm days and cool nights, and September to November after the monsoon clears. December to February brings snow to Manali and above, which some travellers want and others should plan around.

Is the drive from Shimla to Manali difficult?

It is long — around seven to eight hours — on mountain roads with switchbacks. Comfortable for most travellers but worth knowing if you are prone to motion sickness.

Really good. The early start was tough but paid off in empty courtyards and cool air. One of the stops on the itinerary was swapped without warning, though the replacement was arguably better.
