Plan around the heat from April–June (except the hills) and the monsoon from July–September (except Ladakh), and dress modestly at temples and other religious sites. Book popular experiences ahead in the October–March peak season. Stick to bottled or filtered water, and getting around is easiest with a private car and driver, IRCTC trains or a short domestic flight.
