Honest cautions

October to March is the comfortable season for Jodhpur, with the fort's exposed stone ramparts getting properly hot by midday in summer. There is some walking on old stone floors and steps between galleries, so comfortable shoes matter more here than at a flatter site.
Photography is generally allowed; a few galleries restrict flash to protect textiles and paintwork. The old town's blue-washed lanes below the fort are worth an hour on foot with a guide who knows them, rather than only seen from the ramparts above.
