Bengaluru, still widely known as Bangalore, is India's technology capital and one of its more liveable large cities, thanks in part to its relatively mild, garden-city climate compared with the plains. It is less a sightseeing-heavy destination than a comfortable base, with a strong cafe and craft-beer culture, several green spaces, and easy onward road connections to Mysore, Coorg and Hampi.

Bengaluru's mild climate makes it comfortable across most of the year, unlike the extreme summers of the plains, though October to February is still the most pleasant window. A day or two is usually enough before heading on to Mysore, Coorg or Hampi, which is how most travellers use the city.
