India Visa for Canadian Citizens: 2026 Fees, Requirements, and How to Apply
Founder, Experience My India · IIT Jodhpur
Canadian citizens need a visa to visit India, and for tourism the simplest is the e-Tourist Visa, applied for online at indianvisaonline.gov.in. The 30-day costs US$25, the 1-year US$40, and the 5-year the standard US$80; there is no visa on arrival for Canadian passport holders.
Do Canadian citizens need a visa for India
Yes. All ordinary Canadian passport holders need a visa to enter India, and the e-Tourist Visa is the simplest route: fully online, no consulate visit. Diplomatic and official passports are not e-Visa eligible and must apply for a regular visa.
| Criteria | 30-day | 1-year | 5-year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Validity | 30 days from arrival | 365 days from grant | 5 years from grant |
| Entries | Double | Multiple | Multiple |
| Fee | US$25 (US$10 in April–June) | US$40 | US$80 standard |
How firm are these figures
Every fee here comes from 2026 Government of India listings, but they are not all equally settled. The 30-day (US$25, or US$10 April to June) is not in dispute, and it is the seasonal rate almost every e-Visa eligible nationality pays. The 1-year (US$40) is a flat rate identical across nearly every nationality, and the one most Canadian tourists should actually buy. The 5-year is where it is worth thirty seconds on the portal: US$80 is the standard rate a Canadian passport should pay, but a few listings note Canada-specific differences, so confirm the current figure before you pay. (confirmed on enquiry)
Can Canadian citizens get a visa on arrival in India
No. There is no visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry to India for ordinary Canadian passport holders. Apply for the e-Visa online before you fly.

Flying from Canada
Canada has one of the world's largest Indian diasporas, and many Canadians combine a family visit with touring. Flights run from Toronto and Vancouver, direct or one-stop, to Delhi and beyond; peak season is October to March. When you plan with us we confirm the right visa and timing.
