How to choose
If you have limited time, pick one or two of these rather than trying to cover all of them — Varanasi and Rajasthan combine well as a single trip, since both reward a similar golden-hour approach. Ladakh is a more significant undertaking given its remoteness and short season, and works best as its own dedicated trip.
Season notes
Most of this list is best October to March, when air is clearest across north and central India. Ladakh is the exception, with its brief travel season running roughly May to September; Kerala's backwaters are workable year-round but most comfortable outside the June-to-September monsoon.
