Shikara rides and gardens

Gulmarg or Pahalgam extension
A few days in the mountains, with a gondola ride at Gulmarg if you choose that extension.
Return
Back to Srinagar for departure, or onward to your next destination.
Srinagar's Dal Lake is Kashmir's honeymoon centrepiece: elaborately decorated houseboats moored on the lake serve as accommodation, and a shikara (a slim, cushioned rowing boat) is the way you move around, past floating gardens and the lake's own small markets. The Mughal gardens around the lake — Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh among them — add formal, terraced garden walks with mountain backdrops.
Many honeymoons extend the trip to Gulmarg, an alpine meadow town with a gondola ride up towards Apharwat Peak, or Pahalgam's valleys, for mountain scenery beyond the lake itself.

Best season and starting point
Typically five to seven days including a Gulmarg or Pahalgam extension. Best April to October; winter closes much of the region's tourism infrastructure and travel becomes considerably harder, though it does draw a smaller number of visitors specifically for winter snow scenery at Gulmarg.
When is the best time for a Kashmir honeymoon?
April to October, opposite the winter high season most other Indian honeymoon regions use — Kashmir's own peak season avoids the harsh winter months.
Is Kashmir safe for tourists?
We plan itineraries around current, checked local conditions and established tourist routes; ask us for the latest guidance for your specific travel dates.
Should we add Gulmarg or Pahalgam?
Most honeymoon itineraries do, for the mountain scenery beyond Dal Lake — Gulmarg for its gondola and alpine meadows, Pahalgam for its valleys.

4/54 days agoA smooth, well-thought-out trip. The hotels were lovely, the driving was long some days, and one stretch of road was tiring — but they warned us about that, and the stops along the way made it bearable.

5/51 month agoThe Kashmir honeymoon was booked at short notice and they still pulled everything together — driver, entry slot, and a guide who had clearly briefed himself on what we were interested in. Impressive.

4/52 months agoVery good day out. Guide was knowledgeable and the driver excellent. The only reason it is not five stars is that the lunch break felt too long when we would rather have seen one more site.

5/52 months agoTiming was spot on — we hit the fort in the soft morning light and were back at the hotel before the afternoon heat became unbearable. Clearly a team that has done this many, many times.
