Amarnath Yatra 2025 Dates & Duration

The Amarnath Yatra 2025 will commence on 3rd July 2025 and conclude on 9th August 2025.
This 38-day window is carefully planned by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) based on weather and environmental conditions.
The full-sized Shivling forms naturally during this time, drawing lakhs of pilgrims from across the globe.
Pilgrims can choose any day within this window to start their journey, depending on availability and personal schedule.

Key Dates:

Registration Begins: 14th April 2025
Yatra Starts: 3rd July 2025
Yatra Ends: 9th August 2025

Amarnath Yatra 2025 Registration Process

Registration is mandatory for every yatri. No one is allowed to proceed on the yatra without a valid registration permit.

Start Date: 14th April 2025 (online and through selected bank branches).
Documents Required:
- Filled registration form
- Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued by authorized medical institutions
- Valid ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, etc.)
Mode of Registration:
- Online via the official SASB portal
- Through selected bank branches (Punjab National Bank, Yes Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, etc.)

How to Reach Amarnath Base Camps

Before starting the yatra, you must reach one of the two base camps:

1. Pahalgam (Traditional Route):

Distance: 32 km (one-way trek to the cave)
Travel: Via Srinagar (90 km away)
Best for: Scenic route, gradual climb, suitable for families

2. Baltal (Shorter Route):

Distance: 14 km (steep one-way trek)
Travel: Via Sonmarg (15 km away)
Best for: Physically fit pilgrims, quicker return option

You can reach Srinagar by flight, train (to Jammu), or road. From Srinagar, private taxis, buses, and shared cabs are available to Pahalgam or Baltal.

Trekking or Helicopter – Choose Your Way

Pilgrims can choose to:

A) Trek On Foot:

Trekking is physically demanding and takes 1-2 days depending on the route.
Camps and langars (community kitchens) are available at regular intervals.

B) Helicopter Service:

Available from:
- Baltal to Panchtarni
- Pahalgam to Panchtarni
From Panchtarni, the cave is a 6 km trek or pony ride.
Helicopter tickets are limited and must be booked early.

What to Carry – Packing Essentials for Amarnath Yatra 2025

Being a high-altitude trek, the weather can change suddenly. Prepare well:
